Johnson.V’s Simultaneous Chess Exhibitions At Chess GM Project!

Chess GM Project conducted 2 simultaneous chess exhibitions in Kerala to promote awareness & interest about the mind game, in the minds of people! The exhibitions were conducted by the Founder Director of Chess GM Project Mr.Johnson.V,on 09-10-11, Sunday.

30 chess players each (30x2) took Mr. Johnson.V, who was a 2 Time Former University Champion & National Player, on the chess board in 2 sessions of the simultaneous exhibition conducted by the International Chess Promoting Programme Chess GM Project!

The players, who included state & national players, gave tough fight to Mr. Johnson on all the 60 boards he played & made him sweat it out for 6 hours & 30mins, in total, before the 2 exhibitions in different areas of Thrissur district – Kunnamkulam & Pavaratty – Kerala, ended with +57 , -3 in favour of Mr.Johnson.V, with no draws!

It is very significant to note that this wonderful feat was achieved by Mr. Johnson by playing with black pieces in most of the boards in the 60, as the Founder Director of Chess GM Project was generous enough to give white pieces to whomsoever who wished to fight against the champion with white! It is general rule world over that the player who gives the simultaneous exhibition gets the white pieces, as it is much difficult to play with black in a simultaneous exhibition!

Speaking on the side lines of the Simultaneous Exhibition Mr.Johnson.V told the media persons, parents, students & all the chess lovers present that CHESS should be included in the curriculum that children will be able to grow up in a responsible way that CHESS teaches. He also pointed out that CHESS improves one’s responsibility, critical thinking, analytical thinking, logical reasoning, mathematical ability and a large number of +ve aspects which will create an excellent student out of an ordinary one & a great personality out of an average one! He thanked the media for the wide coverage they have given to promote CHESS & CHESS GM PROJECT!

Mr. Johnson.V added that ONLINE platforms too are run by CHESS GM PROJECT to promote CHESS & make people get interested in CHESS, which include the ‘ORKUT’ community ‘CHESS GM PROJECT’, CHESS GM PROJECT BLOG etc!

He didn’t forget to mention that Chess GM Project - For All The Future GMs! – has succeeded in making hundreds of students/people start loving the mind game born in BHARATH/INDIA & IT will keep on doing whatever to promote THE KING OF ALL GAMES, CHESS!

Swiercz Dariusz and Cori T Deysi - World Junior Champions!

1-16th August in Chennai, India
Poland's Grandmaster Swiercz Dariusz and Peruvian WGM Cori T Deysi emerged champions in the SDAT- Ramco 50th World Junior & 29th World Junior Girls Championship organized by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association at Hotel Vijay Park, Chennai, India. Both the players remained undefeated and both became the first from their countries to win the prestigious World Junior Championship.

Though the tournament leader Robert Hovhannisyan of Armenia also finished with 10.5 points, a superior tie-break gave the Polish Grandmaster the World Junior Champion title. Robert Hovhannisyan settled for the Silver medal, as his final round draw, which he had in a difficult rook ending against Azerbaijan's Durarbeyli in 60 moves, pulled him down from the top spot. India's International Master Sahaj Grover (9.5), who scalped two successive GMs in the final two rounds, emerged a clear third. Sahaj Grover won the bronze medal along with a Grandmaster Norm. He played a brilliant final game to down Ter-Sahakyan of Armenia in a 66-move rook ending.
Woman Grandmaster Cori T Deysi, with 11 points, emerged the World Junior Girls champion. It’s because of India's Padmini Rout’s victory over the overnight leader Olga Girya in the final round, Cori was able to overtake the Russian and emerge a clear winner. This is the first time a player from Peru has claimed the World Junior Girls title. Cori Deysi who had picked up a rook for knight on move 23 won it in 45 moves against Tsatsalashvili of Georgia. It was Deysi's second World title as she had won the World under-16 crown at Turkey in 2009. The second place and silver medal went to WGM Olga Girya of Russia at 10.5 points and the top seed Georgian Woman Grandmaster Nazi Paikidze, with 9.5 points, settled for the third spot and bronze medal.

The final round also saw two 13 game Norms being made, a Grandmaster Norm for India's International Master Sahaj Grover and an International Master Norm for the FIDE Master from Brazil Barbosa Evandro Amorim. IM Vidit Santosh Gujrathi of India (GM Norm), IM Axel Rombaldoni of Italy (GM Norm), FM Girish A Koushik of India (GM Norm), FM Vladislav Kovalev of Belarus (IM Norm), Tihomir Janev of Bulgaria (IM Norm), FM Rajesh V A V of India (IM Norm), Narayanan S L of India (IM Norm), WFM Klaudia Kulon of Poland (WIM Norm), WFM Elena Semenova of Russia (WIM) & Catherina P Michelle of India (WIM Norm) are the 10 others who achieved norms from the 50 nation, 200 player event.
